Huanggang Port Cross-Border Guide 2026: New Port Transport Links & Chauffeur Transfers

The rebuilt Huanggang Port (the “New Huanggang Port”) officially opened on 12 October 2026 and offers 24-hour passenger clearance. This guide compiles the port’s clearance arrangements, transport links on both sides and cross-boundary chauffeur options from the joint Hong Kong–Shenzhen announcement, the Security Bureau transport information, the Transport Department announcement and media reports. Port and public transport arrangements may change, so please check the latest information before you travel.
1. About the New Huanggang Port
According to the Security Bureau, the New Huanggang Port offers 24-hour passenger clearance under the “co-location” arrangement and the “Cooperative Inspection, One-Time Release” model; officials put clearance time at about 5 minutes. As reported by Dot Dot News, the port has 134 self-service “Cooperative Inspection” lanes and 68 conventional counters.
The Transport Department also notes that traffic near the port may be busy in the early days of operation, and travellers should use other land and rail boundary crossings as needed rather than rushing to use the new port (source: Transport Department announcement).

2. Shenzhen-side connections
As reported by Dot Dot News, after crossing you can transfer from the Shenzhen-side transport levels of the joint inspection building:
Returning to Hong Kong: take Shenzhen Metro Line 7 to Huanggang Port Station, go through exit A to level B2 of the joint inspection building, then take the escalator or lift to the 4/F immigration hall. If you take a ride-hailing car, get off at level B3 of the joint inspection building.
3. Hong Kong-side public transport
The Transport Department announced seven franchised bus routes (one overnight), six green minibus routes (three overnight) and five short-haul cross-boundary coach routes operating 24 hours. The franchised bus details and full fares below are from the Security Bureau transport information:
Green minibus: daytime 44B, 44B1 and 78; overnight 79S, N44B and 616S. Taxis: the port’s public transport interchange has urban (red) and New Territories (green) taxi stands, plus a dedicated area for pre-booked fleet taxis. The two taxi types have different operating areas and fares; see the taxi fare tables for details.
4. Travel documents and “Cooperative Inspection”
The Hong Kong Port Area of the Huanggang Port is a Closed Area. Cross-boundary visitors need a valid travel document; non-cross-boundary travellers need a valid Closed Area Permit (source: Security Bureau transport information). Please follow the latest notices from the Immigration Department.
“Cooperative Inspection” self-service lanes: as reported by Dot Dot News, Hong Kong residents and Mainland visitors aged 7 or above who are registered and eligible can use them.

5. Chauffeur vs public transport
Public transport runs on fixed routes and timetables, while a cross-boundary chauffeur is by reservation with pick-up and drop-off at locations you choose. The comparison below is general and does not include prices or journey times:
